Housing market still good for lawyers

Despite sagging home sales and dropping prices, New England lawyers are still doing as much real estate business as they were six months ago, and roughly one in four are raising their fees, according to a survey of lawyers by research firm Strativity Group . The findings are part of a second annual Attorney Business Index, sponsored by title insurance underwriter CATI, and comprise information from 341 lawyers in the region. Other findings: Twenty-six percent of attorneys increased fees by at least 5 percent and almost nine out of 10 lawyers said they outsource some type of service.
