Housing activity slows in September

For September, 104 Connecticut municipalities authorized 242 new housing units, according to the state’s Department of Economic & Community Development.

That is the lowest monthly figure reported year to date for calendar 2018. It represents an 18-percent decline from August’s figure of 295 units, and a 40-percent decline from the 407 housing units authorized in September 2017.

In south-central Connecticut the most active municipalities reported by DECD were New Haven, which last month green-lighted 24 new housing units (454 year to date), Southington (10 in September, 54 YTD) and Milford (7 in September, 126 for 2018).
