Education publishing giant Houghton Mifflin Harcourt said it has acquired West Hartford’s SchoolChapters Inc., which makes education software for early childhood, K-12 and college students.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. SchoolChapters, led by CEO Claudia Reuter, will remain in West Hartford, HMH said.
The acquisition follows HMH’s investment in SchoolChapters in April 2013. Connecticut Innovations also invested $250,000 in the company in 2011.
SchoolChapter’s cloud software platform allows educators to upload photos, videos and documents, track students’ progress, communicate with parents and perform other tasks.
HMH, based in Boston, went through Ch. 11 bankruptcy in 2011, and late last year, raised approximately $219 million in an initial public offering.
