Universal Hotel Liquidators, one of the largest suppliers of five-star hotel furniture and liquidation inventory in the United States, plans to relocate from West Haven to the Meriden Mall, where it expects to open in May.
The company will occupy the former Dick’s Sporting Goods space, expanding its footprint to accommodate showroom, customer service and warehouse functions. The move shifts the business closer to central Connecticut and Hartford-area customers.
Universal Hotel Liquidators acquires furniture and furnishings from hotel renovations — which typically occur every five to seven years — and resells those items at discounted prices. Its inventory includes sofas, chairs, tables, dressers, artwork and other commercial-grade furnishings.
The company has occupied a 60,375-square-foot West Haven retail building at 855 Boston Post Road. Dick’s Sporting Goods closed its Meriden Mall location in 2024.
