Hot streak for Hartford area home sales

Central Connecticut house and condominium sales were brisker in July than a year ago, prolonging the region’s summer hot streak, realty authorities say. Prices were flat.

The region’s single-family sales topped 1,045 last month, up from 882 units sold in July 2012, according to the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors.

The median sales price, however, stayed flat at $237,400 vs. $235,750 a year earlier.

The pipeline of houses for sale as well as those headed toward closing also remain strong, the group said Thursday.

Condo sales totaled 247 units in July, up 35 percent from the 183 units closed on the same month last year.

Median condo prices were unchanged at $220,000.

“Another consecutive rise in closed sales is evidence that our market recovery is well underway,” said GHAR President and CEO Jeff Arakelian.
