Hong Kong client relies on Pratt engine in maiden flight

A Pratt & Whitney PurePower geared turbofan engine powered the Hong Kong-based HK Express’ first Airbus A320 flight, Pratt announced Wednesday.

The HK Express flight flew from Hong Kong to Osaka, Japan, on Dec. 12. East Hartford’s Pratt & Whitney is a division of Farmington-based United Technologies Corp.

Andrew Cowen, CEO of HK Express, praised the Pratt engine’s performance as part of the Airbus A320 aircraft.

“We are confident that this highly efficient aircraft will support the growth of our business, benefiting our passengers and enhancing our sustainability,” Cowen said. “We look forward to introducing more A320neo aircraft to our fleet.”
