Homecoming of EPA head focuses on economy

The top official at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency toured her home state of Connecticut to discuss how the agency’s environmental initiatives can help the economy.

EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy – the former commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection – toured North America’s largest fuel cell installation at Bridgeport and met with students at an aquaculture school in New Haven.

The purpose of both stops was to showcase how a healthy environment aids a strong economy.

The Bridgeport stop focused on the city’s B Green 2020 Plan, which aims to build renewable energy installations and provide a haven for eco-friendly businesses in a formerly blighted district of the city.
