The top official at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency toured her home state of Connecticut to discuss how the agency’s environmental initiatives can help the economy.
EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy – the former commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection – toured North America’s largest fuel cell installation at Bridgeport and met with students at an aquaculture school in New Haven.
The purpose of both stops was to showcase how a healthy environment aids a strong economy.
The Bridgeport stop focused on the city’s B Green 2020 Plan, which aims to build renewable energy installations and provide a haven for eco-friendly businesses in a formerly blighted district of the city.
The visit to The Sound School in New Haven focused on water quality, particularly how Long Island Sound is vital to Connecticut’s economy.
