Home prices in Greater Hartford decrease

Greater Hartford home prices, including distressed sales, declined by 0.2 percent in December, while statewide home sale prices increased 0.9 percent.

Those statistics from CoreLogic show Connecticut lags behind the nation. Home prices nationwide, including distressed sales, increased year over year by 6.3 percent in Dec. 2015 compared with Dec. 2014. The site expects home prices nationally will increase by 5.4 percent on a year-over-year basis from Dec. 2015 to Dec. 2016. It did not share a prediction for the Connecticut market.

The Greater Hartford Association of Realtors reported single-family homes and condos saw more sales and higher median prices in December year over year. The group said the median sale price of single-family homes in Greater Hartford increased for the second consecutive month, by 3.6 percent, from $202,250 to $209,450 over December 2014.
