Home builders in idle

New home construction in Connecticut chalked up another loss. Building permit data released today by the state Department of Consumer Protection shows a meager 670 permits in June, compared to 745 permits both in June of last year and in May of this year. So far, Connecticut building permits are running more than 18 percent behind the comparable first half of 2006 – and that number was 9 percent lower than in 2005.
