Hoffman Auto Group will open a Genesis dealership in Avon, replacing its current Nissan store.
Hoffman Auto Group said it will bring the Genesis brand to Greater Hartford, opening a new dealership in Avon that will replace its current Hoffman Nissan store.
The location, to be called Genesis of Avon, will be the first Genesis dealership in the region. The move introduces Genesis to Hoffman’s lineup while retiring Nissan, keeping the company’s total at 11 automobile brands across Connecticut and Vermont.
Genesis, launched in 2015 as the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Co., has been steadily building its U.S. presence. The closest existing dealerships are in Milford and Northampton, Mass.
Family-owned Hoffman, founded in 1921, operates stores in East Hartford, West Simsbury, Waterbury and New London, as well as Burlington, Vt. Its other brands include Audi, BMW, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Lexus, Lincoln, Porsche, Subaru and Toyota.
The company said current Nissan customers will continue to be supported after the Avon site transitions to Genesis.
In May,
Hoffman announced it expanded outside of Connecticut for the first time, acquiring Burlington Subaru — Vermont’s top Subaru dealership — and its sister store, Burlington Hyundai. The company said many of the existing employees remained with the dealerships under Hoffman ownership.
