Greater Hartford’s annual hockey tournament starting Tuesday is closing in on its third decade of providing an economic boost for any business experiencing the post-Christmas blues.
The Connecticut Polar Bears host their 27th Annual Holiday Tournament at 10 different sites and 15 ice rinks across Greater Hartford from Tuesday through Friday. The invitation features 200 hockey teams bringing in 3,000 female ice hockey players from across the United States and Canada.
This is the nation’s largest youth ice hockey tournament, according to the Greater Hartford Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The number of players and their families is enough to fill 43 hotels in the Greater Hartford area.
