The sale closes a chapter for the 120-year-old soda brand, which has moved production to another New Britain facility.
The longtime New Britain home of Avery’s Soda has sold for $485,000, several months after the historic property was put on the market following the beverage company's relocation.
Julia and Daniel Rodrigues purchased the property at 510 Corbin Ave., according to land records. The sale price was confirmed by Frank Amodio of Amodio & Co. Real Estate, who represented both the buyers and seller.
The nearly 1-acre property includes the historic barn where Avery’s Soda was produced for about a century, along with a fully occupied two-family house.
The buyers plan to continue renting the two-family home and use the former soda-production barn for storage, Amodio said.
Avery’s no longer operates from the property and has relocated to One Hartford Square in New Britain, Amodio said.
The real estate sale follows a change in ownership of the more than 120-year-old soda brand. Patrick Moore, owner of Simsbury-based Hilltop Apiaries, acquired Avery’s Soda from longtime owner Rob Metz. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
CT Insider reported last year that Moore moved Avery’s production and distribution operations from Corbin Avenue to a new 10,000-square-foot facility in New Britain, with plans to increase production capacity and expand the brand’s retail distribution.
Avery’s was founded in New Britain in 1904 by Sherman Avery, who began making soda in the Corbin Avenue barn.
Amodio said Metz sold the real estate as part of a retirement plan after selling the soda business roughly a year earlier.
