Hfd. Foundation’s $1M grants for area job training

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has awarded more than $1 million in grants for area eduation and job-training programs.

Foundation President Linda J. Kelly said the grants are part of the foundation’s Accelerate Success, strategic plan to work with partners to help area residents get and keep jobs.

Those receiving grants are:

• YWCA Hartford Region: $405,000 for a pilot college completion/job readiness program for single mothers.

• Career Resources of Hartford: $375,000 for training, employment and support services to reduce recidivism for individuals released from Connecticut prisons.

• Goodwin College in East Hartford: $300,000 for a pilot program to improve graduation rates of women facing significant barriers to attaining an associate degree.
