The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has appointed Yvette Meléndez as chairwoman of its board of directors.
Meléndez, vice president of government and community alliances at Hartford Hospital, succeeds Edward Forand Jr., who recently completed his 10-year term with the foundation.
She previously was chief of staff and chief administrative officer at the Connecticut State University System, and has also worked for the State Department of Education.
The foundation also announced the board appointments of Phoenix Cos. CFO Bonnie J. Malley and HRW Resources President Robert B. Goldfarb.
