Hfd. biz district shuttle gets makeover

CTTransit is sprucing up its year-old free shuttle service that transports diners and shoppers to downtown businesses.

Starting Thursday, the Star Shuttle will be no more. The shuttle will be renamed the “dash” bus, which stands for downtown area shuttle.

The newly repainted, bright orange bus will be on display Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Connecticut Convention Center.

The shuttle is supported by the Hartford Business Improvement District, the convention center, the state Department of Transportation, the city, the Capitol Region Development Authority, the Hartford Metro Alliance.

Nearly 729,000 people have used the shuttle since it first launched in 2005, according to the DOT.

Correction: The original version of this article incorrectly stated who is in charge of the shuttle. CTTransit, a division of the state DOT, operates the program.
