More Greater Hartford houses flooded onto the sales market in July, which also saw increased sales, brokers say.
Sales of single-family dwellings rose 3.9 percent last month to 1,086 units vs. 1,045 sold in July 2013, according to the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors. Warm months are the peak season for house sales.
New listings jumped 12.4 percent in July, with 204 more units listed for sale for the first time in July than the 1,853 new listings added in July 2013, the Realtors group said Wednesday.
Overall, 7,833 houses were for sale in July vs. 6,720 a year ago.
Meantime, the median house price last month was flat at $235,000 vs. $237,400 a year earlier.
Condo sales rose 7.7 percent in July to 266 units vs. 247 units sold a year earlier, the GHAR said.
The median condo sale price climbed 8.1 percent to $156,750 from $145,000.
