Hartford area home sales gently rose in January but the price of a single-family dwelling shot up 10 percent last month, fresh realty data shows.
Closed sales increased in January to 566 units, up to 2.5 percent from 552 the first month of 2013, according to the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors.
The median price of a house that closed last month grew to $220,000 from $200,000 a year earlier, the association said Friday.
Condominium sales fell 9.8 percent to closings last month on 111 units from 123 a year ago.
The median condo price also dropped to $145,000 last month from $160,000 the same month last year.
