Hershey’s former CT chocolate factory site for sale

The site of chocolate maker Hershey’s former Naugatuck plant, which it vacated in 2007 and leveled four years later, will be sold in an online auction next month, auctioneer CBRE said.

Bidding for the 36-acre site on New Haven Road, which formerly housed Hershey’s subsidiary Peter Paul Co., will start at $2.2 million, according to CBRE. The auction will take place Sept. 25 and initial money deposits are required to participate.

The CBRE listing says the site — located between the Crosspointe Plaza Shopping Center and Walmart, is ideal for a big box retailer.
