Henkel, a German consumer goods manufacturer with its North American headquarters in Rocky Hill, purchased a two-story office building in Trumbull for $4.9 million, according to the city’s property records.
The Düsseldorf-based company plans to renovate the 42,750-square-foot building at 9 Trefoil Drive, according to minutes from a Dec. 17 Planning and Zoning meeting.
Proposed renovations include adding a patio and a smoking shelter, upgrading loading docks and installing new mechanical equipment and electric vehicle charging spots. Calls to Henkel, which operates research-and-development facilities at 4 and 30 Trefoil Drive and has corporate offices in Stamford, were not immediately returned.
The seller is Best Buddies LLC, controlled by Brad Blank, Robert Friedman and Anthony Shriver, all based in Florida. They are principals of Best Buddies International, a nonprofit focused on helping people with disabilities. Best Buddies LLC bought the building for $3.68 million in 2015.
The building, which sits on 5 acres and was built in 1985, was appraised at $3.67 million and assessed at $2.57 million in 2023.
