Hearst Newspapers has appointed the former managing editor of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer as editor of The Advocate of Stamford and Greenwich Time.
David McCumber also will become editorial director of Hearst’s Connecticut Newspaper Group, which also includes the Connecticut Post, News-Times of Danbury, and Brooks Community Newspapers.
Hearst President Steven Swartz says McCumber will begin his new job on April 27.
McCumber spent nine years as managing editor of The Post-Intelligencer, also owned by Hearst. The newspaper last month became the first large American newspaper to shift to an all-Web format because of falling advertising revenues. (AP)
