Hearst CT Media nearing deal to acquire Meriden Record-Journal, parent company

Hearst Connecticut Media Group announced Monday it is nearing a deal to acquire the Meriden-based Record-Journal and its parent company RJ Media Group.

The deal, which would add the Record-Journal and its group of publications to Hearst Connecticut’s network of local news websites, newspapers and magazines, could come together by the end of 2023, Hearst said Monday.

Details of the potential deal, including any layoffs or financial aspects, were not disclosed by Hearst Connecticut’s group publisher and President Mike DeLuca.
