Hearst Connecticut Newspapers has hired South Carolina newspaper executive Henry B. Haitz III as publisher, it announced.
Haitz worked most recently as publisher of The State Media Co., which publishes the largest paper in South Carolina. He has also been publisher of The Herald in Bradenton, Fla.
In his new role, Haitz will oversee Hearst’s four daily papers in Connecticut —Connecticut Post in Bridgeport, News-Times in Danbury, The Advocate and Greenwich Time — as well as seven weeklies in Fairfield County.
He replaces Paul M. Ferrell, who was hired in Aug. 2012 but returned his previous employers in Iowa in October.
