A Hartford judge is set to hear arguments later today on whether Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is eligible to run for state attorney general.
The hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Hartford Superior Court.
Bysiewicz, a Democrat, and Connecticut Republicans are seeking a court ruling on whether she’s qualified to run for attorney general.
Bysiewicz believes she meets requirements in state law saying the attorney general must have at least 10 years of “active practice” in the state. She worked as a lawyer in private practice in the state for six years, but says her 11 years as secretary of the state also count.
Republicans say they don’t believe Bysiewicz is qualified.
