HealthyCT, a consumer-oriented health plan that received its license in April, said it’s hired former Anthem Blue Cross executive Dr. Russell J. Munson, as its chief medical offices.
Munson practiced as a primary care physician for two decades and in 2002 became medical director for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut. He also held positions at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, where he completed his family medicine residency.
“HealthyCT is the most exciting thing to happen in health insurance in Connecticut in the last 20 years,” Munson said in a statement. “It’s not-for-profit, doesn’t pay dividends isn’t beholden to Wall Street, but rather to its members and physician sponsors.
