Departing Connecticut insurer Health Net will lay off 750 non-union workers from its Shelton facility between January 2011 and March 2012 when it closes that office, a Connecticut Department of Labor filing shows.
Health Net announced last year its intent to stop offering insurance in the Northeast, and in December the state insurance commissioner approved a $510 million deal whereby UnitedHealthcare would acquire all of Health Net’s Northeast subsidiaries.
It was unknown how the insurer’s departure would affect employment in Connecticut until Health Net filed the required paperwork with the Labor Department.
