Health exchange enrollment picking up speed

Access Health CT, the state’s health insurance exchange created under Obamacare, has seen a 79 percent increase in enrollment over the past 20 days, the organization said today.

A total of 23,440 Connecticut residents have enrolled since the exchange launched Oct. 1. That’s up from 13,128 on Nov. 14.

Growth in both private insurance and Medicaid enrollments played a role in the increase. Private insurance enrollments have nearly doubled since Nov. 14, from 7,572 to 14,365, while Medicaid enrollments are up 63 percent at 9,075.

The current open enrollment period ends Dec. 23.
