After a career spanning 12 years, Hartford Business Journal publisher Gail Lebert will step down on Sept. 1, to explore new career opportunities.
Lebert joined the Hartford Business Journal in 2002 as advertising director before being named associate publisher, and later publisher, in 2007.
Joe Zwiebel, Hartford Business Journal’s founder, and a partner in New England Business Media LLC, which publishes HBJ and two other New England business newspapers, will take over as publisher.
“Under Gail’s leadership, the Hartford Business Journal has grown significantly, and she can proudly say that she leaves the organization better than she found it,” said Zwiebel.
Lebert will continue to work with Hartford Business Journal’s executive team to facilitate a smooth transition, while remaining engaged with the publication and the business community as chairwoman of Hartford Business Journal’s newly formed executive advisory board.
“This is a great time to turn over a new page — both for the Hartford Business Journal and for me personally,” Lebert said. “I have loved my last 12 years at HBJ, and feel confident about the future of the Hartford Business Journal. As you might imagine, I did not come to this decision lightly, but I leave energized and excited for my next opportunity. I am humbled by the outpouring of support that everyone has shown me during my tenure, and am grateful to my colleagues and the community for helping to make my time at the Hartford Business Journal such a great experience on both a professional and personal level.”
“We all wish Gail the very best as she moves on to her next adventure,” Zwiebel added. “Gail is a curious, energetic, lifelong learner. Taking on new challenges and opportunities is just part of her DNA. I appreciate all she has done to make HBJ the brand that it has become, and I look forward to continuing to work with her in her new role developing and chairing the Hartford Business Journal’s executive advisory board. Gail is, and we hope will always be part of the HBJ family.”
