Haven Hot Chicken expanding to Newington

New Haven-born eatery Haven Hot Chicken announced it plans to open its seventh location in Connecticut early next year, in Newington.

The new restaurant will be at 12 Fenn Road in a 1,200-square-foot space.

The chain is known for its Nashville-style chicken and “not chicken” tenders and sandwiches in a variety of spice levels, from “Country,” with no spice, all the way up to the extremely spicy, “Haven.”

Haven Hot Chicken’s “not chicken” offerings are made from cauliflower. The restaurants also serve fries, sides and seasonal offerings.

Haven Hot Chicken also has locations in New Haven, Orange, Norwalk and North Haven, with restaurants in Middletown and Storrs coming in 2023.

Jason Sobocinski, president and co-founder of Haven Hot Chicken, said, “Newington, here we come!”

The new location will have limited seating for in-house dining, and will mirror most of the other Haven Hot Chicken models, which focus primarily on curbside takeout and UberEats delivery.

Sobocinski and fellow restaurateurs Rob LaTronica, Craig Sklar and Etkin Tekin launched the Haven Hot Chicken concept in 2020, and they have indicated they plan to continue to pursue additional locations.
