Harvard Pilgrim Health Care: CT membership beats 2015 expectations

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care announced its Connecticut membership has grown to more than 24,000, exceeding expectations for 2015.

Harvard Pilgrim now serves more than 800 Connecticut businesses, it said in a news release. The not-for-profit health plan began offering coverage in Connecticut in mid-2014 and is the newest entrant into the Connecticut market.

“Our competitive rates, strong provider network and civic minded, non-profit nature are fueling our growth,” Jason Madrak, Harvard Pilgrim’s Connecticut vice president, said in the release.

Harvard Pilgrim’s other New England markets include Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. With Harvard Pilgrim’s entry to Connecticut, it became the only not-for-profit, regional health plan operating in four contiguous New England states.
