Hartford nonprofit Riverfront Recapture has been awarded a $200,000 grant from Bank of America for leadership training and to boost its innovation fund.
Bank of America on Thursday named the nonprofit its 2018 Neighborhood Builder grant recipient, which includes a two-year grant worth $200,000.
The North Carolina-based multinational investment bank said it chose Riverfront Recapture for its work connecting community members and visitors to the Connecticut River. These efforts, it says, have helped build the Capital City’s economy.
Riverfront Recapture, managing Hartford and East Hartford’s riverfront parks and Riverwalk trail system, organizes cultural events, public art, waterfront entertainment and recreation programs. Its parks, open year-round, have connected more than 12 million people to the Connecticut River, Bank of America said.
Founded in 2004, the Neighborhood Builder program has partnered with 23 Hartford nonprofits, investing $4.6 million in community issues aimed at improving the economy. Nationwide, the bank has invested over $220 million in 49 communities and more than 1,000 nonprofits.
