Hartford’s parking gatekeeper is inviting public feedback to its survey aimed at improving parking convenience and services to many of the 300,000 vehicles daily that course city byways and boosting economic-development opportunities.
Hartford Parking Authority CEO Eric Boone said Wednesday the city’s quasi-public parking arm has hired San Francisco mobility consultant NelsonNygaard and other consultants to “develop a comprehensive approach to parking management and supply for current and future economic development needs.”
Launched in April, the study’s final recommendations are expected by July, Boone said.
Among items the study will specifically address: Identify unmet parking demand now as well as in the future; management of parking to support increased economic development; how best to incorporate new technology; on-street parking rates, time limits, and regulations; where and when new parking garages will be necessary; detailed and fiscally responsible cost estimates for future parking projects.
