Hartford’s King Limo merges with Teddy’s

Teddy’s Transportation System Inc. in Norwalk, one of the nation’s biggest limo operators, is merging with King Limousine as part of an expansion into Hartford’s vibrant livery market, officials say.

Financial terms of the merger weren’t disclosed. But King founder Steven M. Begin is joining Teddy’s as general manager.

Begin, who started business in 1992 with a single limo, said he had sought a partner for some time and chose Teddy’s “because their family has the same values as mine.”

He said Teddy’s is eager to expand into central Connecticut, where livery demand for corporate and corporate-entertainment travel is growing.

Teddy’s primarily serves the Fairfield County and Westchester County, N.Y. livery markets.

King’s corporate headquarters is in downtown Hartford, at 100 Pearl St. Its five limos, based in Farmington, boosts Teddy’s fleet to 43, said Teddy’s CEO Charles Wisniewski.

Eventually, Begin said, Teddy’s plans to boost the number of limos serving the Hartford corporate and corporate entertainment livery market.
