Former Stonington schools superintendent Leanne Masterjoseph is the new chief academic officer for a new urban-education affiliate of Hartford’s Jumoke Academy Schools.
Jumoke CEO Michael Sharpe said Monday Masterjoseph will oversee and develop curriculum for the Family Urban Schools of Excellence (FUSE), Jumoke’s charter education management organization.
FUSE was launched in May to replicate Jumoke’s 15-year-old model of improving academic outcomes for students from diverse backgrounds.
Along with her 22 years as an educator, Masterjoseph has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from George Washington University, two master’s degrees in urban education and school district administration from Iona College.
She is nearing completion of the University of Connecticut’s doctoral program in educational eeadership. This year, she was named Southeastern Connecticut United Way’s “Volunteer of the Year.”
