Hartford’s first recreational marijuana dispensary opens for business

Hartford’s first adult-use cannabis dispensary opened for business this morning, bringing the state’s number of stores selling recreational marijuana to 12.

The Curaleaf Hartford site opened for adult-use customers at 92 Weston St. It’s the company’s second dispensary in the state to offer recreational sales, along with its Stamford location. Curaleaf said medical patients will have priority access to the dispensary and their own dedicated entrance.

Curaleaf also has two medical marijuana facilities in Groton and Milford that it expects to convert to hybrid-use to serve both markets. Before converting those other two dispensaries, Curaleaf needs regulatory approval from the state.

The large cannabis multistate operator has also been pursuing plans to open an adult-use dispensary in Manchester, at 240 Buckland St., at the site of a former Friendly’s restaurant.
