Hartford subcontractor Electrical Contractors Inc. completed two solar projects in Waterbury and Framingham, Mass. totaling 988 kilowatts.
The Waterbury project put a 304 kilowatt solar array on top of the parking garage for clothing retailer Kohl’s on Main Street.
The Framingham project put a 684-kilowatt array on top of the parking garage of the corporate headquarters for office supply retailer Staples.
The solar panels on each project are enough to offset the need for any grid power during daylight hours. The reduced greenhouse gas emissions from the combined power is equivalent of taking 4,100 cars off the road.
Electric Contractors worked with Maryland solar firm SunEdison to sell the installations to Kohl’s and Staples. Financial details were not disclosed.
