Hartford’s Clarion Hotel sold to New York developer

A New York-based development firm has agreed to purchase the decade’s vacant Clarion Hotel on Constitution Plaza and turn it into apartments, city officials said Monday.

Wonder Works Construction and Development bought the property Friday at an undisclosed price, city officials said.

The 12-story hotel has been an eyesore for downtown Hartford, sitting vacant on Constitution Plaza for more than 10 years.

Wonder Works officials did not return a call seeking comment.

The building, which as built in 1964, was formerly owned by the Maharishi School of Vedic Sciences.
