Hartford nonprofit African Caribbean American Parents of Children with Disabilities is getting a federal grant of up to $400,000 to support disabled children in low-income neighborhoods, authorities say.
Congressman John B. Larson, AFCAMP officials and parents whose kids are program beneficiaries are scheduled to formally announce the grant at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
The funds from the U.S. Department of Education’s Community Parent Resource Center’s Parent Training and Information Program will provide $100,000 to AFCAMP in the first year, authorities said.
