The Common Council has approved “Love Hartford” merchandise, carrying a new logo and slogan, which will be sold at the Wadsworth Atheneum gift shop, possibly as soon as Tuesday.
The council unanimously approved Mayor Luke Bronin’s resolution proposing the sale of city-branded merchandise during its March 27 meeting.
The first batch will be hooded sweatshirts. T-shirts and other items – such as tote bags, water bottles, pens and umbrellas – will be added as demand grows, according to Janice Castle, director of the city’s Office of Community Engagement.
Graphic designer Judah Makonnen, owner of Hartford-based Artwurks Unlimited designed the logo to promote a “resident engagement, employment and community resilience program celebrating civic pride in Hartford.”
The Office of Community Engagement will use proceeds to fund benefit projects focused on the community including combating litter, activating vacant spaces and strengthening neighborhood pride.
The “Love Hartford” initiative is funded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
