The Congressional Black Caucus will visit Hartford, beginning Thursday, for a three-day celebration of the 200th birthday of noted author Harriet Beecher Stowe.
Congressman John Larson, D-1st District, will publicly welcome members.
The Stowe celebration coincides with the 40th anniversary of the formation of the Congressional Black Caucus, and will highlight the impact that Stowe’s book had in ending slavery in America, authorities say.
Caucus members scheduled to visit: Missouri Congressmen Emanuel Cleaver III, who is chairman, and William Lacy Clay Jr.; Florida U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown; G.K. Butterfield of North Carolina; Donna Christensen of the Virgin Islands;Â Hank Johnson of Georgia; Gregory Meeks of New York; and Donald Payne of New Jersey.
All events below are open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
