Hartford to host 1,100 woodturners

More than 1,500 of the world’s woodturners will assemble at Hartford’s downtown Connecticut Convention Center for a three-day symposium, beginning June 18.

The event will feature woodturning demonstrations, participant involvement and exposure to new woodturning skills. Woodturning involves mounting wood to a lathe that spins the material at high speed while it is carved with artisans’ handtools.

There also will be panel discussions and a trade show with approximately 50 vendors June 18-20.

In addition, a gallery of wood art will be on display in the convention center and next door at the Hartford Marriott. The exhibition is free to the public.
