Hartford Taste, the city’s annual street festival featuring music, art and food kicks off today at noon.
The festival runs from noon to 9 p.m. today and Saturday on Pratt and Trumbull streets in downtown Hartford.
The free, family-friendly event features more than 30 restaurants, two music stages and live art demonstrations.
Attendees may purchase tickets to sample the food.
Proceeds benefit Connecticut Foodshare, and all vendor fees are covered by The Hartford, which is the presenting sponsor for the fourth year.
The event takes place rain or shine.
Celebrity chefs – including Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam; East Hartford Mayor Connor Martin; Chris Jones, head of small business at The Hartford; and Jerome Baier, regional manager at M&T Bank – will compete in a cookoff on a stage at the northeast corner of Trumbull and Asylum streets from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today.
Also, throughout the two-day event, Hartford’s top chefs, bartenders and artists will perform on the stage.
