A new study by discount-buying website Groupon finds Hartford is the fifth friendliest place to do business in the country. That’s based on a high customer satisfaction rating.
The Groupon report said the top 10 cities with the friendliest local businesses –meaning the highest percentage of merchants with a 90 percent satisfaction rating or higher from Groupon customers – are:
- Providence, R.I.
- Milwaukee
- New Orleans
- Tampa Bay, Fla.
- Hartford
- Dallas
- Houston
- Cincinnati
- Pittsburgh
- Charlotte, N.C.
The information was gleaned from post-redemption surveys. Groupon implied the high level of satisfaction may come from the fact over 90 percent of Groupon merchants in the United States have 20 or fewer employees, and over 30 percent are sole proprietors. Some of the local Hartford businesses that were highlighted for strong customer-service ratings include Fascias Chocolate, Therpoint Massage and Connecticut Science Center.
