Hartford Sprinkler Co. Inc., a family-owned Connecticut fire protection contractor based in Bloomfield that has operated for more than 90 years, has been acquired by one of the nation’s largest fire protection and security providers.
Georgia-based Pye-Barker Fire & Safety announced the deal Thursday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1933, Hartford Sprinkler installs, inspects, tests and maintains commercial and residential fire sprinkler systems statewide. The company, based at 4 Britton Drive in Bloomfield, also provides fire alarm, fire suppression, fire extinguisher, emergency lighting, backflow testing and fire pump testing services.
Hartford Sprinkler’s technicians will continue serving customers in Connecticut following the acquisition, the companies said.
The acquisition brings Hartford Sprinkler into Pye-Barker’s network, which has more than 250 locations and about 9,000 employees nationwide.
Pye-Barker officials said the deal strengthens its Connecticut presence by adding fire sprinkler expertise to its existing security and alarm operations, allowing it to offer customers a broader range of integrated fire-protection and life-safety services.
Hartford Sprinkler President Kevin Kita said the company has spent decades building its reputation on quality fire sprinkler services and code compliance expertise. He said the acquisition will allow his company to expand the services it offers to its customers.
Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP served as legal counsel to Pye-Barker in the transaction.
