Hartford is one of the most improved U.S. markets for recruiting managers to fill jobs, a survey shows.
Hartford’s September employment index rose 7 percent from August, according to the CareerCast.com/JobSerf survey.
The most improved per capita hiring city in September was Milwaukee, with a gain of 20 percent, followed by St. Louis, up 12 percent; and Detroit, up 9 percent.
“Milwaukee showed great improvement in hiring over the past year, gaining 23 points since last September, while St. Louis gained 21 points,” says JobSerf Chief Operating Officer Jay Martin. “Even though long-term unemployment and underemployment rates indicate serious challenges for Connecticut’s economy, Hartford showed a remarkable 29 point increase since September 2009.”
Losing ground this month were Cleveland, down 14 percent; Atlanta, down 9 percent; and Miami, off 8 percent.
Nationwide, for the second month in a row, managerial recruitment activity showed a slight drop, falling to 99.6 in September from 102.3 in August, the CareerCast.com/JobSerf index showed.
