The Hartford Restaurant Group is opening a new Wood-n-Tap location in Groton this week.
The 8,700-square-foot renovated and expanded restaurant at 117 Long Hill Road is the 10th Wood-n-Tap location in Connecticut. The group’s first out-of-state location opened in West Springfield, Mass., in 2023.
The Groton site had been a 99 Restaurant and Pub. The Massachusetts-based chain closed the location in 2022, along with two other Connecticut sites. HRG has expanded the original building, added a patio and redesigned the parking lot.
HRG co-founders and CEOs Phil Barnett and Mike Hamlin will host the Groton restaurant opening Friday, June 20. They opened the first Wood-n-Tap in Hartford in 2002.
The Groton location will host a fundraiser for Groton’s Fitch High School and Stonington High School classes of 2026 on Saturday.
