Hartford reopens economic development suggestion box

Those interested in submitting an economic development strategy for Hartford in the federally-funded Strong Cities Strong Communities challenge will have another chance to do so, officials said.

The U.S. Economic Development Administration has given the city and its challenge counterparts in Las Vegas and Greensboro, N.C., permission to reopen registration to allow others to participate in the challenge and to join teams.

Registration will reopen Aug. 14 at 8 a.m. and run through Aug. 18 at noon.

The EDA has put up a total of $900,000 in prize money for the two-phase contest, which is pitched as an alternative to hiring a consultant to come up with an economic development vision.
