Hartford-based real estate investment and development firm Staypoint recently acquired two restaurant properties and an auto repair garage building, all located in the same portion of the high-traffic Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield.
Staypoint this past summer paid $925,000 for a 53-year-old, 6,396-square-foot restaurant building on 1.3 acres at 1731 Berlin Turnpike, which hosts a Hooters Restaurant.
That sale also included a neighboring 1943-vintage, 1,296-square-foot auto garage building on 0.4 acres at 1745 Berlin Turnpike.
The selling LLC’s principal is Gerald A. Joseloff, of West Hartford.
Staypoint founder and CEO Joseph Sullo said the company plans to continue leasing the property to Hooters for now, but he envisions redeveloping the neighboring site in the future.
Staypoint, in September, paid $1.2 million for a vacant 9,387-square-foot restaurant building at 1770 Berlin Turnpike, nearly across the street. The 1943-built building, formerly home to the Carmen Anthony Fishhouse, had been vacant for several years.
The selling limited liability company is headed by Jude Downey, of Rocky Hill.
Sullo, on Friday, said he is talking with potential users of the former Carmen Anthony building. If there is no firm commitment by February or March, however, he will demolish the building to make way for new development. The 2.2-acre property could hold two pad sites for restaurants, although other concepts might be pursued, he said.
