Hartford ranks as the nation’s 7th fittest city, according to two health surveys, prompting city officials to promote their healthy-diet campaign.
Shape Magazine and the American Fitness Index ranked Hartford high for its residents’ commitment to a nutritious diet and exercise, says Mayor Pedro E. Segarra.
Segarra and Health and Human Services Director Carlos Rivera said the release of the ranking coincides with the Healthy Hartford campaign underway.
The city has designated Friday as “Fresh Veggies Day” to encourage citizens to shop for fresh produce at one of more than a dozen Hartford region fresh produce stands.
“We are working diligently with merchants and residents to promote healthy lifestyles and food choices,” Rivera said.
