Hartford ranked sixth healthiest city

When it comes to healthy, Hartford fares pretty well. A new ranking puts its residents sixth in the nation in terms of overall health.

The report by BetterDoctor.com ranked the top 50 healthiest cities in the country. Last year Hartford ranked fifth with an overall score of 62.69 but its sixth-place ranking comes with a higher score of 63.96.

Hartford receives a high ranking, according to the survey, because 92.8 percent of the population has health insurance, which comes in at the third most of the cities. Hartford also ranks fairly high in the other categories: American fitness index; doctors per 1,000 residents; and, highly ranked physicians.

Coming in 50th place is Memphis, Tenn. It has an overall score of 16.83. Minneapolis, Minn., is the healthiest city with a score of 72.49.
