Hartford offering New Year’s Eve parking gifts

Hartford is once again promoting downtown as a New Year’s Eve venue, offering discounted parking at two city garages and lifting parking restrictions on several streets in the central hub.

The city, through its quasi-public Hartford Parking Authority, will charge parkers $2, starting at noon on Dec. 31, at its Church Street and Main-Asylum-Trumbull (MAT) Garages.

In addition, designated on-street parking locations will be free that same day to all parkers from noon to midnight. The two- and four-hour time limit restrictions will be lifted

Finally, “no parking from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.” restrictions will be lifted on a handful of streets surrounding Bushnell Park, to encourage visits to the park’s Winterfest ice-skating rink and holiday lighting display: Jewell Street from Trumbull Street to Trinity Street; and Trinity Street from Elm Street to Jewell.

All other safety and scofflaw regulations will remain in full effect, officials said.
